WELSH GRAND PRIX OPEN 24.04.2005.....
The Welsh Grand Prix Open Championships hosted by ITF Wales.
Spirit Taekwon-Do took 12 competitors up to Wales and came back with a trophy Hall of 12 medals" not a bad days work"
The championship was without question the best one so far to date with over 150 competitors. A combination of superb organisation and an exceptional level of competition showed that ITF Taekwon-Do is now the fore-front of UK Taekwon-Do.
One of the outstanding students at this event was Amber Hitchins who trains with Spirit Taekwon-Do. She showed great Indomitable Spirit for still competing with a torn nail when it would have been easier to stay in bed. Not only did she demonstrate good Spirit but also good technical ability for someone so young.
Two other outstanding students where Joel Wilson & John Larkin who competed well in both patterns and sparring disciplines.
The competitor of the day was Jake Aubrey who competed in the 13-17 years of age catergory although he is only 12 years old. Jake blitzed his way to the final with well worked combinations and a tireless back fist, Jake was narrowly defeated by the Welsh Champion. It hardly showed that Jake has been away for nine months and is almost back to his best. A big thank you to all the parents that joined our convoy to Wales to support the championships.
THANK YOU!
